Christians Against Poverty

Debt is a major challenge facing many individuals and families, and South East Kent is no exception. For some, the burden can become overwhelming, leaving them feeling that they have nowhere to turn. Shame and isolation can also make it difficult to ask for help when it is needed most.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a highly respected national charity providing free, professional support to people struggling with debt. SKCC operates a CAP Debt Centre serving the Shepway area.

Under the leadership of Centre Manager Angela Burnett and a dedicated team of trained volunteers, the centre has supported many individuals and families since opening in early 2007. Through CAP’s structured debt-management process, alongside the personal support of the local team, clients are helped to take practical steps towards becoming debt free.

Clients are visited in their homes, where the team offers reassurance, practical support and a clear pathway forward. For many, having someone walk alongside them through a difficult season can make a huge difference — helping them regain control of their finances, rebuild confidence and move forward with hope.
