Millfield Drop-In

"For I was hungry & you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty & you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger & you invited me in” (Matt 25:35-36).

We open on Monday and Wednesday from 3.00pm - 5.00 pm and serve between 15 to 30 clients per session. Most are men but we do serve a few women. We offer hot drinks, hot dogs, home made cakes and biscuits and give sandwiches to take away.  There is also a supply of socks and toiletries, which we give out as there is need. Any food that is given to us that cannot be turned into sandwiches is given out.

Many have addiction problems, mental health issues or have suffered a series of circumstances that have contributed to poor housing or homelessness. Their lives are often lonely and chaotic with little stability and frequent unsuccessful efforts to control their addictions.

Without God there is no hope for their lives. This ministry started in autumn 2004 using a converted bus parked by the side of the road and as such was previously known as Bus Shelter.  In spring 2008 the decision was made to move the project into the Millfield Centre, Cheriton Road, Folkestone. Clients who previously would have found if difficult to come inside a church building now find it easy as relationships have grown and boundaries have been removed.  Growing numbers also made the move into a building a positive step forward.

Contributions of packet soup, meals in a tin, tinned meat for sandwiches, tins of hot dogs and cakes are always appreciated. As are offers to help make sandwiches! Also old sleeping bags and blankets are needed for those sleeping rough, along with toiletries and in the winter months, gloves, scarves and hats.

If you would like to make a food/toiletry contribution to the Millfield Drop-In please bring it to our Sunday meeting or call the church office on 01303 251155 for details.
